Clogged drains are not only frustrating but they can also be extremely damaging to your property if they result in sewage or grey water backing up into your home or building. William D. Taylor is a full service plumbing contractor serving the Durham, NC area. We specialize in unclogging drain pipes in residential, commercial, municipal or industrial buildings. The first step with any clogged drain call is usually to inspect the affected line with our inspection camera. This provides us with a live feed of the interior condition of your line and we’ll be able to get a really good look at what is blocking the line and how we can go about it unclogging it.
Providing your sewer or drain line is in good all around condition and not heavily corroded or cracked and infested with tree roots we can usually unclog the line using a commercial plumbing snake or for more serious blockages, further down the line we’ll use a hydro-jet to blast out any debris or clogs in the line.

How Do We Unclog Your Sewer or Drain Line?
This is a very good question and the best answer would be…. It really depends on several factors. For clogged drains that don’t extend much further than your toilets plumbing or a sink drain then it can usually be fixed quite quickly with a small plumbing snake. Careful attention must be taken not to push the clog further into your drain system when using a snake, we’ve had to help many home or business owners who had their own plumbing snake and thought the issue could be easily repaired. If you don’t know what the clog is, phone us!
If the clog in your sewer or drain is much further down the line and not easily accessible by a plumbing snake, like in the slab foundation or underground on your property then a camera inspection must be completed to find the problem. Once the problem has been discovered and we know the line hasn’t been damaged we can then hydro-jet the line.
What Is Hydro-Jetting?
Hydro Jetting works by inserting a special mechanical head, attached to a pressurized and continuous supply of water down into the clogged sewer or drain line. The hydro-jet process spins and sprays water at such high pressures it can literally rip through almost anything inside the sewer or drain line, including the line itself! This is why a thorough camera inspection of the line and it’s condition must be completed prior to this process.
